Easy Chair By Edward Barnsley Workshop X de Le Cuona

The Edward Barnsley Workshop launches a new series of Easy Chairs at London Craft Week (LCW) 4-9 October 2021. The first is in partnership with Bernie de Le Cuona, founder of de Le Cuona, and will be on show in the de Le Cuona Pimlico Road store throughout the duration of LCW.

Several Easy Chair designs exist in the Edward Barnsley archives, created by Barnsley in the 1950s, one of these Arts & Crafts drawings has been selected as a starting point for the new chair created in English oak.

James Ryan, Head of Design at the Edward Barnsley Workshop has developed a new shape and finish, by innovating and applying textural wood techniques. Textile specialist, Bernie de Le Cuona has selected the robust wool linen Attenborough fabric from her new Studio range bringing her lifelong knowledge of linens and natural textiles, to ensure a new approach for this historic collaboration.

James Ryan said: “de Le Cuona’s design style, use of natural materials and ethical sourcing makes for a really good fit with the Edward Barnsley Workshop.” de Le Cuona are committed to sustainability and ensuring the very best craftsmanship behind their fabrics. Bernie de Le Cuona said: “I like working with small specialist mills with a history of weaving but who want to experiment to keep this artistry alive, which is why this particular collaboration with the Edward Barnsley Workshop is so appropriate.”
